Wine
Notebook, Part 10 (May 10, 2007)
by the Wine Baron Took
daughter to orthodontist appointment in Kitchener
Ontario. Visited several wine clients in the retail
sector. The weather started out quite cloudy but turned
to sunny breaks in the afternoon.
Enjoyed
two wines this evening.
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, 2005
– (NEW ZEALAND)
One of the greatest success stories in the modern world of wine: Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. This wine is vibrant with aromas of gooseberry and
passionfruit, with hints of lime and layers of tropical fruit. Well balanced, zingy, dry and a seductive finish. (SC: 0)
De Sousa Wine Cellars Riesling Semi Dry, 2005
– NIAGARA PENINSULA (CANADA)
Remember those sweet German wines years ago? Riesling has come of age and lately it’s hot! That’s because it’s simply a lovely wine and they’re making it dry and semi-dry these days.
The interplay between the refreshing acidity and the slight natural
sweetness make this wine exciting. Pleasant aromas and flavors of citrus and tropical fruit. (SC: 1)
