Wine Notebook, Part 13 (May 26, 2007)    by the Wine Baron

Dining in style is one of life's great pleasures. Today it's the restaurant Tru in Chicago. If you want a restaurant experience where every detail is covered and every food item is at its best, this is the place. This is a fine dining experience. Ask your server for her recommendations. Chef's discretion is tops here. Let Tru decide on how you should wow your taste senses. I am wowed by the caviar, braised lamb shoulder ravioli with spring pea emulsion.  Or check out the roasted Hawaiian grouper.

Owner/chef Rick Tramonto brings you a dining experience that is "tru" to his goal: to use unlimited creativity and draw upon unlimited resources from around the world.  Dessert is no small thing either. Co-owner Gale Gand is the pastry chef.  In case it is not yet apparent, this is a fancy restaurant with fancy prices. But if you want the best, this is the place to be!

Tru is a quiet and romantic spot. Enjoy the moment with someone you care about. Men, bring a jacket.
