Kiki's Bistro
- A fine French Bistro in Chicago
There are
about ten fine French restaurants in
Chicago. One of the most most authentically
French and cozy of them is Kiki's. Pascal showed us to a table on the
patio so we could enjoy the beautiful late
summer Chicago evening.
This place takes its
food and French roots seriously. The
traditional pate was wonderful. The dinner menu serves
up such delights as grilled king salmon, sauteed
asparagus and pommes vapeur with pineapple relish. Or
try the grilled pork tenderloin or the lavender roasted
Cornish hen. For dessert, we enjoyed "the best Creme
Brulee I ever tasted," according to Ashley. I agree.
Amazing!
The extensive wine
list will satisfy any discriminating palate. As this is
also a BYOB restaurant, I brought a 2004 Chateau des
Jaubertes for Veronica, Hilde, and Ashley to savor.
The Jaubertes is a
Grand Vin de Graves, Bordeaux. Dark ruby colour; floral bouquet of violets with fruity elements of blueberry and blackcurrant. A whisper of leather. Flavors enter the mouth slowly and with a roundness. The dark fruity notes dominate the light oak treatment. Tannins are supple and ample. A long and fruity finish. Drinkable now.
