It's St. Patrick's day and we don't have time to drink
green beer or dye the River green! Such a pity. We used
to do it all the time when we lived in Chicago. But the
Baroness and I did have something pretty exciting to
attend to today. We had to help out at the Burgundy Road
Show in Toronto. A trade tasting of almost 30 visiting
wineries.
We helped visiting
winemaker Raphael Dubois of Domaine R. Dubois et Fils. Mr. Dubois
presides over 22 hectares of vines. The estate produces red and white
Burgundy, Aligoté, Haute Côte de Nuits, Haute Côte de Beaune, Pinot
Noir, Nuits St Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Clos-Vougeot, Savigny les Beaunes,
et Chambolle Musigny. Their Premier Cru and Grand Cru are the pinnacle
of Burgundy wines.
Raphael's goal is to offer authentic and original wines that properly
reflect the terrior of not only his region but of his local vineyard.
This is paramount. The results are excellent wines with elegance and
character. Our two favourites were his entry level white and the
Premier Cru red. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at their best.
