Visit to Peninsula Ridge Winery, Beamsville, ON

The Baroness and I were finishing up client calls and discovered we were both near Beamsville. We descended upon Peninsula Ridge to sample a few wines and cheeses. Ashley stood behind the tasting bar and was ready to help us taste a few delights. This winery is not only one of the prettiest in Niagara (you've got to check out the restaurant, carriage house and barrel cellar too), they have good solid wines and a cosmopolitan array of cheeses.

My pick of today's tastings:

Viognier 2007, VQA Niagara Peninsula

Light in colour, the bouquet is of floral notes, soft tree fruit blossoms and melon. The flavours continue with peach and melon with a refreshing and crisp mouth feel.

My favourite two cheeses were the old Gouda and the 9 year old cheddar. Mmmmmm.
