Little
Scottie
Little Scottie is a Chicago based Blues
musician with a tall heart and soul. Diminutive in stature, his big voice
can belt out the Blues like nobody's business. You can catch him at the
Cotton Club in Chicago or on Maxwell Street during their jam
sessions each summer.
Little Scottie hails from Florence, South
Carolina. His goodness and faith gave him the strength to rise above
environment and circumstance. He suffered third degree burns when he was
young and had to be hospitalized for years. He was raised in Savannah
Grove Baptist Church and sang in the choir. Bearing not only a great love
for gospel music and its message, Little Scottie gradually began to branch
out into street entertainment and then touring. The man Clarence Scott
chose the show business name "Little Scottie" in honor of Little
Richard.
Scottie has recorded eight or nine albums
and a number of singles. He moves easily from Blues to Soul to Gospel and
back to Blues. We especially appreciate his authentic interpretation of
southern Blues and "Chicago Blues."
In addition to his music career, he is very
active in a number of community and civil causes. His artful and genuine
emphasis on the educational approach as he spreads his message of racial
goodwill, tolerance and harmony should be an inspiration to us all.
