Places to dine in Chicago ("Grab a bite" and
"white table cloth")

This weekend we enjoyed the Jazz festival and watching the filming of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight
(due out in 2008). Not only good times musically, and cinematically, but we enjoyed three dining
establishments as well...

Taco Palace, Chicago
Taco Burrito Palace #2 at 2459 N. Halsted, Chicago
Our Two Grab-A-Bite Choices:
  • Portillo's Hot Dogs has over 30 locations in Chicago. We simply love the 100 W. Ontario location across from the Rock and Roll McDonalds in River North. This location has a 1930's theme that makes it quite a fun venue. You simply must order the Italian Beef sandwich - Chicago's best. Have beer or soft drinks with it.

  • Taco Burrito Palace #2 at 2459 N. Halsted (just a few doors from the famous club BLUES has the most tasty food and is the most affordable taco restaurant in Chicago. Call (773) 248-0740. Open 10 AM to at least 3 AM. Tacos are $1.80 each. Two are filling. Or spend $6.25 for a large Burrito dinner with all the fixin's. For a full menu with alcoholic beverages, you can go up the street to the Mayan Palace at 2703 N. Halsted, by the same owner.

Our White Table Cloth Choice
 in Chicago:

Brasserie JO is an authentic French brasserie. As with a British pub, the brasserie is a social place to meet friends or new acquaintances. This venue is well managed and has a good wine list and food to match by the talented Chef Joho, originally from France. Located at 59 W. Hubbard Street, Chicago. Another fine River North establishment.
